Assam laksa is a traditional Malaysian fish-based sour noodle soup. It is the one of the numerous varieties of laksa, popular noodle soups widespread throughout Southeast Asia. The dish consists of rice noodles, shredded fish, and sliced vegetables, most commonly cucumber, onion, and lettuce. It has a distinctively tangy taste, which is attributed to tamarind, the sour ingredient generously used to spice the dish. The exact origin of the dish is unknown, but it is believed that it has originated in the coastal areas of Malaysia among the local fishermen who assembled the dish out of available ingredients.
Nasi goreng kampung is a traditional nasi goreng (fried rice) variety originating from Malaysia, but it's also popular in Singapore and Indonesia. Although there are many recipes, it's usually made with a combination of rice, onions, shallots, garlic, chili peppers, anchovies, oil, water spinach, eggs, and salt. The onions, shallots, garlic, and hot peppers are puréed and fried with the anchovies in oil. The rice, eggs, and water spinach are added to the pan and the dish is stir-fried for a few minutes before it's served hot. Nasi goreng kampung (countryside-style fried rice) is usually garnished with tomato or cucumber slices and a few dried anchovies on top.

Kebaya is an upper garment opened at the front traditionally made from lightweight fabrics such as brocade, cotton, gauze, lace, or voile, sometimes adorned with embroidery. The lower garment for the outfit is known as sarong, kemben or kain, a long piece of cloth wrapped and tucked around the waist or under the armpits, either made out of batik, ikat, songket or tenun.

The gasing was said to have been a popular game among the Malays since the time of the Melakan Sultanate (now the state of Malacca in Malaysia) in the 15th century.5 In the past, the game was usually played at the end of the rice harvest when farmers had more time on their hands. Some people believe that the creation of the gasing is associated with the berembang tree, which grows near the sea. According to them, the shape of the berembang fruit enables it to be spun on its tip like a top. It is believed that the fruit’s unique shape inspired the creation of the gasing.

Dance movements are choreographed to melodies which are performed using musical instruments such as the gambus (short-necked lute), accordion and rebana.Back then only males were allowed to perform; nowadays, female dancers are included. It used to be performed exclusively for religious ceremonies but through the years it has become a form of traditional entertainment, hence the participation of female dancers is allowed.
